Here are 5 Things You Can Do for Your Psychic Business

Owning and running your own business is a fun and full-time job. It’s a misnomer to think you are just going to sit at home and have a steady flow of clients coming to you without effort. With hard work, dedication, careful planning and compromise, I have successfully been running my own business for over two decades. Here are some things to consider.

#1: Business Entity

As an independent contractor you are considered the sole proprietor of your business. Become accustomed to the terminology and treat your work as any other business. Choose a name for your business that you like and don’t change it. Keep your business name separate from your personal name. Consistency pays off.

#2: Marketing

Mandatory, fun and sometimes free, marketing is your outreach to the world. Invest as much time and/or money as you can within reason to do this and utilize every available asset such as business cards, ads-free and paid, social media, website, blogs and even commercials. Focus on your unique skills and let the world know. Design your own logo and have a kicky saying for your cards like Enhance and Enlighten. Short, easy to remember things are best.

#3: Privacy

This may sound odd but just as you market your business, you may want to keep your personal and family life private. This is much easier if you don’t see private clients in person at home. Your personal life is your own and is just as sacred as your work. Keep your work and life separate. It is easy to blur the lines of advisor/friendship with regular clients so keep your work professional and your personal life private. Make sure you balance your personal and professional time.

#4: Finances

Very important. Keep your business finances separate from your personal ones and keep track daily. Have separate checks and credit cards for your business. Even if they are informal and don’t have your business name on them, keep separate records of everything you spend for your business. This will allow you the maximum amount of deductions on your tax return. Be organized and don’t procrastinate. If you feel you cannot do this, hire someone ,but keeping track is much simpler than you think. Use software like Quick books, keep excel sheets and all your receipts. Learn what is available for you in your state and take advantage of it.

#5: Accreditation/Education

Continuing education is vital in any business. Don’t fall into the mode of thinking you know it all. Our gifts keep evolving and growing as does everything in life. Take classes, learn how to use tools and systems and obtain accreditations. Cards, runes, nature etc. open our senses and they will enhance, enlighten and empower you in ways you may be unfamiliar with. You want to be as expansive as possible in your work. Many clients feel readers with accreditations are more reliable and professional and this will draw a different clientele to you.

Remember, anything you spend on your business will pay off if you plan wisely.

How do you organize your business??

I keep everything separate. When it comes to business, you have to keep your personal life separate from your professional life. Don’t mix social media contacts, and don’t mix expenses.

Yes, so important to keep work and business seperate. I don’t have any personal social media and I don’t tell everyone where I work. It doesn’t take much time to be private. I’m glad we can write in here!

I have difficulty with keeping my personal life separate which sucks because it makes me all work all the time. I have a lot of demanding clients that consider me a friend and think I should just drop everything when they want a reading or just aren’t mindful of my time. There are even more that think they know me well but really very few people are able to get close to me because I have to be so careful unbenounced to everyone else. It causes loneliness and I would love to break this blockage but I am clueless as to how. My work is literally my life. Even when I try to take a day off I still wind up working in some way shape or form. I have gotten better but still have a long way to go.

Thank you. There were a couple key things I need to do and focus on. I’m not yet very business savvy and this is the kind of info I need to know. Thx again.

Thank you for the suggestions. I am not new to the work, just new to it being my main thrust. You point out very useful tools. I intend to use all of them. Especially the advanced accreditation. Thanks…

I became aware of my gifts at age 3 when I began seeing spirits in my room.

My mother and grandmother were both gifted and from a very young age, I was taught to respect nature and to read her signs along with herbalism, tarot cards, and healing.

I have worked in the healing and psychic world for many years and have taught, read and counseled and written.  I trained with many masters and have studied to enhance my gifts in Italy, Greece and many places in the US.

I work with PsychicPRO as a writer and to help readers find their best possible employment in an environment that enhances and honors their abilities. It is an honor to do this work and I look forward to helping you do yours.
