Charging For Readings: 3 Compensation Considerations
Compensation is an aspect of our work that makes many psychics and lightworkers uncomfortable.
However, it is a practical reality we all need to consider.
For many of us, this is our sole source of income and with it we feed our families, pay our rent and cover the costs of utilities.
If you have a private practice or work for a network that allows you to set your own rate you will to decide how much to charge your callers.
It’s a big decision so take your time. You want to be fair to your callers and be fairly compensated for doing your spiritual work.
It’s a delicate balance and an individual decision.
Here are 3 things to consider when making your decision on what to charge your customers:
#1: Be in the right mind space.
Many readers feel they should share their gift for free or experience guilt if they charge at all.
These are valid considerations but liken your worth to that of any other professional:
Does your doctor, lawyer or mechanic work for free? Of course not and neither should you.
Your work is just as valuable.
If you are truly feeling uncomfortable with money energy, you may wish to reconsider doing this for a living.
I’ve heard many readers say they don’t care about the money and its these same readers who then say they don’t earn enough.
Find your balance and be at peace. Many readers do free readings privately and this can help things stay in balance.
#2: Overhead costs.
How much money do you need to run your household and your business? Add up your monthly bills, equipment and advertising fees and see where you are.
What do you feel your time is worth? What amount of money, time and energy have you put into learning and honing your gifts?
How many years’ experience does you have?
Do you work for a network that takes a percentage of your fee?
Are you travelling?
Your income should always exceed your output and expenses.
#3. What do other readers charge?
Research similar readers and see if what they charge feels good to you.
Location can influence this as well so consider where you are.
You may wish to have holiday specials, gift certificates or party rates.
You can have minute, hourly, sliding scale rates, or you can have them all.
Many readers have different rates for different types of readings or offer discounts for return callers or longer calls.
It’s common to charge a half hour rate and slightly higher hourly rate such as 40.00 a half and 60.00 an hour. This is just an example and you can be very creative.
If ultimately you are uncomfortable with your fees, you can always change them.
With everything taken into consideration, the most important thing is that you feel comfortable with what you charge.
If you are in discomfort with your fees your callers will be as well, and your flow of abundance may be challenged. Charge wisely and fairly and have fun!!
What do you consider when deciding fees?
Is charging a fee difficult for you?
What do you think?
