Happy St. Patrick’s Day
St Patrick’s Day: March 17
One cannot think of St. Patrick without the iconic images of green shamrocks, pots of gold and leprechauns.
St. Paddy’s day is a day of celebratory green revelry and rainbows. Everything is green, clothing, food, drink, tea, cupcakes, and clovers. Celebrations include parties with friends, parades and looking for 4 leaf clovers. It is a day to celebrate the Irish Heritage in all its uniqueness.
Intertwined with modern parades, one can see references to Celtic Spirituality, druidism and tarot.
St. Patrick’s mythology includes leading the snakes out of Ireland, but he has other lesser-known aspects such as reflecting The Magician in the Tarot.
Look at the similarities:
- Both can communicate with animals/nature and have a magical staff that represents the elemental aspect of fire.
- Both have spent years in semi-isolation, working with the earth elements and evolving their spiritual path.
- Both meditate deeply and can lose their ego in order to access divinity and serve the greater goods while constantly seeking and learning more.
The Magician and St. Patrick hold an affinity for all of the elements, and they can use them with divine inspiration to enhance the spiritual realms.
In addition to these more magical aspects, St. Patrick is known for his love of Ireland and his devotion to divinity and like the Magician is both seeker and guide.
In modern society, much of these symbols are forgotten but the day still brings communities together for a grand day of celebration on March 17 each year.
Other aspects of St. Patrick’s Day include searching for rainbows, 4 leaf clovers, leprechauns or pots of gold.
Leprechauns represent one of the realms of the fey. They can be helpful and kind, but they also are known for revelry, drink, fighting and illusion so be wary of making any deals for pots of gold.
In a quieter aspect, you might choose to go for a walk-in velvet green (an early term for the forest) and enjoy a peaceful mediation into all thing’s nature.
St. Patrick’s Day is a day to celebrate so have fun, dance, drink green tea, look for rainbows and find your pot of gold.
