The Birthstones of June
The Birthstones of June
June is a special month and those born now are a unique combination of earth, water and air.
The summer solstice mid-month is a major sabbath and festival feast along with the turn of seasons.
During this month of celebration and change we celebrate three birthstones:
Alexandrite, Pearls and Moonstone
Alexandrite is a rare, color changing variety of the mineral chrysoberyl. It was discovered in the Ural Mountains in Russia in the 1830’s and was named after the young heir apparent Prince Alexander.
Due to its dualistic, color shape shifting abilities, alexandrite is called “emerald by day and ruby by night’ making it a perfect birthstone for those born closer to the cusp of Gemini. Gemini is about duality and partnership and those Cancerian Moonchildren with Gemini traits can benefit greatly by the balancing attributes of the is lovely gem.
Useful for decision making, deciding between two paths or two partners, alexandrite holds the key to balancing and restoring the unity of mind and heart.
Pearls look very similar to the moon and are formed inside oysters. They range in color and size, but their incandescence and radiance always capture our souls.
Pearls are perfect birthstones for moon like cancerian crabs that love the ocean and all things watery. They are tiny full moons found in the mother oceans and waters of the world. They form slowly and are difficult to harvest making them valuable and rare.
Pearls have been attributed many magical and healing aspects over the centuries and to wear or work with them engulfs you in the deep emotions of the metaphysical psyche.
They bring a calming peace to those attuned to them and help to center and unknot tangled emotions.
They are useful in all matters of the heart and can greatly assist in restoring one’s own sense of beauty.
They enhance our natural attributes and counter act negative experiences.
They are protective, positive and purifying and enhance spiritual awareness.
Moonstone is a form of feldspar and is a soft, iridescent gem.
They are reflective and protective and are said to part the veil between Faerie and our own dimension.
They range in color from clear to soft grays and beiges and often resemble the moon in shape. They are lovely to look it and when you hold one, you can literally feel its softness.
All moonchildren, especially those born on June 23, The Night of the Faieries, will connect deeply and naturally to this magical gem.
Moonstone is perfectly suited for all sorts of scying, especially those systems involving water and /or mirrors and moonlight. With divination as a primary attribute, moonstone is said to open the third eye in new directions, especially those geometric dimensions regarding creation.
Moonstone protects the crown chakra when it is open. It draws and directs the moon’s reflection to open the portals between Faeire and Earth, protecting all travelers on the journey.
Moonstone’s application in spiritual healing deals with the deep psyche. Moon Children are deeply empathic. They are the true “sensitives”. What they feel is real and visionary and moonstone can assist with the integration of prophetic awareness and daily living.
Moonstone softens the harder bits of life and helps us integrate the unexpected. They tune well in moonlight and can be used for any moon ceremony or ritual
All the birthstone of June are Magical and Healing.
